Moved to Athens for the 2004 Games and grew to $7M+ a year taking fans to the Olympics and World Cups. Also lost $1M in 17 days in London in 2012, which taught me more than the wins did.
Ran away from home, with the family.
Costa Rica to Germany with four kids under seven. The house went on Airbnb and paid for the trip. The book came out of it.
First building. Then a portfolio.
Home, then long-term rental, then Airbnb, then sold. I’ve repeated that playbook since, and it scaled into hotels and hostels after 2020.

There’s always a reason not to take the trip. This book is the working plan for doing it anyway: automate before you leave, rent out the house to pay for it, and find villas for about $100 a night. Everything in it comes from twelve months on the road with a family of six.
Ten years later, the model still works. We still rent out the house and still travel on the school calendar.
